The repair kit offers a few options for doing a repair:
The clear instant patches give you want a quick ‘on the go’ instant repair. They will last longer on the inside of the canvas and have been known to sometimes last for many years depending on where and how they are applicated, or can be permanent if used in conjunction with the polyurethane glue?
The glue and a canvas patches which can be put on the inside or outside as a permanent repair, with time to cure before you close the roof.
If the hole is for instance a ‘V cut’ and has pulled apart a bit, you can use the clear patch to help close up the canvas as much as possible from the inside and use just glue to bridge the canvas from the outside for a permanent less visible repair with time to cure before you close the roof or if struggling to close up a gap, using a glued canvas patch.
If it is just a small nick were the canvas hasn’t pulled apart, you can just use the glue to bridge the canvas again for a permanent repair (the easiest way to applicate the glue if not using the spatula is using something small like a cocktail stick) with time to cure before you close the roof.
The fly screen repair does come with a self-adhesive backing, but can also be used with the polyurethane glue, or small nicks or tears can be repaired with just the glue by bridging the gap with time to cure before you close the roof.
Waterproofing your elevating roof canvas can be easily overlooked.
The waterproofer comes in an easy to use 1L spray bottle ready for use. We feel this is the best on the market.
For best results, choose a dry day for a more even finish. During application, work the waterproofer into the canvas with a damp cloth.
You can find that that pinholes from stitching can still leave you with leaking on the seams. The seam sealer liquid soaks in to any pinholes and dries clear, leaving a flexible and impermeable waterproof surface. It contains no VOC’s, is non-toxic and easy to apply. Remove cap and using the foam pad simply brush on a generous layer of seam sealer by gently squeezing the bottle. Allow the liquid to seep in and cure before you close the roof. Curing time can vary, but will take approx. 15-25 minutes on a warm day until it is clear and dry.
